About Me
Well this is the about page, more specifically it's about me. I'm a 24 year old who lives in Bolton, UK. I work as a web developer and have been doing for the past few years. I specialise in website design and development using PHP/MySQL to create kick ass projects and I really enjoy the work I do.
In the website business people often say that you are either a designer or developer, and it's difficult to do and be good at both. Fortunately for me I think thats a load of bull because I'm more than competent at both. Growing up I was fascinated with art and graphic design and I'm also a very logically minded individual so the split between design and development is perfect for me and allows for a change of pace when jumping between the two.
I started coding at Lancaster University whilst studying for my Computer Science Degree and loved the place so much I stopped on for another year to do a Masters Degree in IT, Management and Organisational Change (big up the ITMOC).
Outside of being a web developer I'm a keen football player and have a slightly obsessive love for film, TV and music. Hopefully along with my technical articles on website development I'll try and recommend some great films to watch along with some awesome TV shows. If your interested in what kind of music I'm into check out my last.fm profile, I'm planning on seeing the amazing Foo Fighters in the summer followed by Kings of Leon at the V Festival.
Hopefully this page hasn't come across as some narcistic, ego ridden rant about me, I did contemplate scrapping the whole page but as I try to grow the website some people may (or more likely not) be interested in who I am and if I actually have any idea of what I'm talking about and luckily for you a picture of me will not feature on this page.
About this Site
The site started out as an online portfolio where I could showcase the projects I've worked on but more recently its turned into a sort of technical and personal blog about the technical aspects of my work and things that interest me. My aim is to develop the site as a resource for like minded people and provide some help to the web community.
